Jingmen
Jingmen is a city in central Hubei, historically part of the ancient Chu state and set among lakes, low mountains and fertile farmland. Its outstanding monument is the Ming Xianling Mausoleum, a grand imperial tomb inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list as one of the Ming and Qing tombs. The clear Zhang River reservoir supplies water and recreation, and to the north rise the forested slopes of Mount Dahong. The region is a noted producer of high-quality Jingshan rice, and local tables feature fish cake and freshwater dishes. With a humid subtropical climate and rail connections, Jingmen offers heritage and calm countryside away from the crowds.
