📖 About the university

Taishan University of Science and Technology is a private undergraduate university in Tai'an, a Shandong city famous as the foot of Mount Tai, the most revered of China's five sacred mountains. It began in 2004 as the Taishan College of Science and Technology of Shandong University of Science and Technology, an independent college, and in February 2021 the Ministry of Education approved its conversion into a standalone private undergraduate university under its present name, now backed by education investment companies. Located in the Shankou area of Daiyue district, it positions itself as an application-oriented university training high-quality applied and technical-skills talent for regional economic and social development. The university is especially known for adopting a full residential-college system modelled on Western-style residential colleges, an unusual approach among Chinese universities that integrates living and learning. It has developed provincial experimental teaching demonstration centres, characteristic programmes and quality courses, with strengths in applied engineering, economics and management, finance and accounting, big data and digital arts. It suits students who value an innovative, community-based campus experience alongside practical, career-focused study.

🌆 About Tai'an

Tai'an in central Shandong exists in the shadow of Mount Tai, the foremost of China's Five Great Mountains and a UNESCO World and Cultural Heritage site. For over two thousand years emperors climbed Taishan to perform the sacred fengshan rites, making the mountain a symbol of the Chinese nation. At its foot the grand Dai Temple was the imperial base for these ceremonies. Pilgrims and hikers still ascend the stone stairway past Heaven's Gate to watch sunrise from the summit. The city's cuisine centers on its famous tofu banquet and hand-made pancakes. High-speed rail on the Beijing-Shanghai line stops here, an hour from Jinan.
