📖 About the university

Beihai College of Art and Design is a private art-and-design university in the city centre of Beihai, a coastal city and historic port on the Beibu Gulf in Guangxi. It grew from the Guangxi branch of the Beijing Arts and Crafts School founded in 2000, on which the Beihai Vocational College of Art and Design was built in 2003, and in 2014 it was approved by the Ministry of Education to become a full undergraduate institution under its present name, making it the only undergraduate university in China named for art and design. With more than two decades of history, the college serves over 14,000 students and around 1,000 staff and is organised into eight schools and departments, including design, animation, environmental art, architecture and education. It offers around eleven undergraduate programmes, all built around the visual and applied arts. Its core strengths lie in art and design, animation, environmental art, architecture and visual communication. It suits students committed to careers in design and the visual arts who want a specialised art school in a relaxed seaside city.
