Sichuan University (SCU) is a public research university in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province in south-west China, with roots reaching back to 1896 and shaped by later mergers that broadened its disciplinary range. It is included in Project 985, Project 211, and the Double First-Class initiative, and it is the leading comprehensive university in the region. SCU is especially renowned for medicine and stomatology through its West China schools, which are among the most respected in the country, as well as for polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering, and law.
