Renmin University of China (RUC), also known as the People's University of China, is a public research university in Beijing, founded in 1937 from earlier revolutionary-era institutions, and it is the country's leading university for the humanities and social sciences. It is included in Project 985, Project 211, and the Double First-Class initiative. RUC is especially renowned for economics, law, finance, journalism and communication, public administration, and sociology, and it has close ties to national policymaking and the study of governance.
