📖 About the university
Army Medical University, widely known by its historic name Third Military Medical University, is a military medical university in Shapingba District, Chongqing, administered by the People's Liberation Army Army. Its lineage dates to 1954, when the Sixth and Seventh Military Medical Universities were merged and the combined school was later renamed Third Military Medical University after relocating to Chongqing in 1975; it was reconstituted as Army Medical University in 2017, when it also absorbed the Bethune Medical NCO School and a training brigade from the Western Theatre Command. The university was among the first group of national key universities established after the founding of the People's Republic of China and is recognised for a strong record in fields such as immunology and spinal surgery. It trains military medical officers, civilian medical staff, and combat medics for the Army, the Rocket Force, and the People's Armed Police, offering 11 undergraduate majors including clinical medicine, basic medicine, preventive medicine, stomatology, pharmacy, and nursing, alongside 10 doctoral and 12 master's-level disciplines. Its clinical and research network includes major affiliated hospitals in Chongqing, such as Southwest Hospital and Xinqiao Hospital. As a military institution, Army Medical University's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are intended for Chinese military and public-security personnel rather than international applicants, so it does not currently offer general international admission.

🌆 About Chongqing
Chongqing is a sprawling southwestern municipality built across steep hills where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, giving it the nickname the mountain city. Its urban core holds around 16 million people, and its dramatic, multi-level terrain of bridges, tunnels, and cliffside buildings is unlike anywhere else in China. The climate is humid subtropical, with famously hot, humid summers and mild, often foggy winters. Landmarks include the glowing Hongya Cave stilt complex, the old Yangtze River cableway, Ciqikou ancient town, and the light-rail line that runs straight through a residential tower at Liziba. The city is the birthplace of fiery Chongqing hotpot, alongside spicy xiaomian noodles and laziji chicken. A distinctive metro and monorail system, Jiangbei International Airport, and high-speed rail connect its complex geography and the wider region. For an international student, Chongqing offers low living costs, dramatic scenery, and an intense, unforgettable urban experience.
