Sichuan University of Science and Engineering is a public university with its main campus in Zigong, southern Sichuan province, founded in 1965 and renamed to its current Chinese name in 2018. It is an engineering-focused institution with strengths in chemical engineering, materials science, automation and bioengineering, including a distinctive program in liquor-brewing science tied to Sichuan's famous baijiu industry. It also draws on Zigong's heritage in salt chemistry. The university supports the chemical, materials and food-fermentation industries of southern Sichuan.
