Yangtze Normal University is a full-time public undergraduate university run by the Chongqing municipal government, located in Fuling District. Its origins trace to a rural normal school founded in 1931; it became Fuling Teachers College in 2001 and was renamed Yangtze Normal University in 2006, gaining master's-degree authorization in 2024. With more than 22,000 full-time undergraduates, it retains a strong teacher-education tradition while developing applied engineering and science programs. The university operates provincial and national research platforms, including a national base for the study of the Chinese national community.
