📖 About the university

Liming Vocational University is a full-time public vocational university located in Quanzhou, a historic port city in southern Fujian. Its heritage reaches back to Liming High School, founded in 1929 by the poet-educator Liang Piyun together with overseas Chinese benefactors, and after the school reopened as the Liming Academy on its former site it was upgraded in 1984 into the vocational-level Liming Vocational University. The university is organised into around fourteen colleges, including Civil and Architectural Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Business, Cultural Communication, Information and Electronic Engineering, Foreign Languages and Tourism, New Materials and Footwear and Apparel Engineering, Light Industry, and Aviation, offering some forty-nine programmes. Reflecting Quanzhou's position as one of China's largest bases for footwear, textiles and light industry, it is particularly strong in footwear and apparel engineering, new materials and intelligent manufacturing, and it maintains close ties with the region's private manufacturers. It has long served the Minnan region and maintains connections with the large overseas-Chinese community whose support helped found it. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
