📖 About the university

Mianyang City College is a private undergraduate institution in Youxian district of Mianyang, the northern Sichuan city designated as China's Science and Technology City. Its site began as a private school campus built by the Wanbo group in 2002, and in 2006 the City College of Southwest University of Science and Technology was established there — an independent college applied for by that university and invested by the Hefei Wanbo social development group. The college took sole possession of the campus in 2008, bought 500 mu beside the river in Huagai town of what is now Anzhou district in 2014, and opened that second campus in September 2016. On 17 May 2021 the Ministry of Education published its plan to approve conversion into a free-standing private institution, and from the 2021 admissions season the school has enrolled under the name Mianyang City College. Teaching is organised in five units — civil and environmental engineering, engineering and applied technology, economics and management, general education and the industry-partnered Dingli College — with an intake of over eight thousand students. The emphasis follows the parent university's applied engineering character, with civil, environmental, surveying and computing programmes prominent. Instruction is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.
