📖 About the university

Rizhao Polytechnic University is a full-time public vocational-bachelor's university located in the coastal city of Rizhao in southeastern Shandong. The institution began in 1987 as the Rizhao No. 3 Vocational High School, pioneered higher-vocational education in Shandong in the 1990s, and grew into Rizhao Polytechnic, which became a national demonstrative and high-level (double-high) college. In February 2026 the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Rizhao Polytechnic University on that basis, and the Shandong provincial government confirmed it as a public vocational-bachelor's university under joint provincial-municipal management. Its first vocational-bachelor's majors include modern aquaculture technology, ecological and environmental engineering technology, food engineering technology, intelligent control technology, new-energy vehicle engineering technology, and intelligent construction engineering, reflecting a distinctive marine and coastal orientation captured in its motto of ploughing the sea. The university is organised into around fifteen departments, including Marine Technology, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, General Aviation, Modern Automotive, Electronic Information Engineering, Accounting, Business, Humanities and Tourism, and Creative Design. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
