📖 About the university
Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University, known for two decades as UIC and until 2025 as the BNU-HKBU United International College, was founded in 2005 as the first higher-education institution in mainland China created through cooperation between Hong Kong and the mainland with independent legal status. It is located in Zhuhai, in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and was established jointly by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University with the support of the Zhuhai municipal government. The university pioneered a liberal-arts model on the mainland that combines broad general education with professional training, following a whole-person-education philosophy and offering programs largely delivered in English across some 30 undergraduate majors. Its academic units include the School of Business and Management, the School of Culture and Creativity, the School of Humanities and Social Science, and the School of Science and Technology, alongside a College of General Education and a Graduate School, with an enrollment of more than 9,000 students. In March 2025 the Ministry of Education approved its renaming to Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University, reflecting its growing status and a planned second campus phase intended to expand its science, engineering and postgraduate programs. Over its two decades of history the university has built a reputation as an innovative bridge between mainland and Hong Kong higher education, attracting students from across China as well as Hong Kong, Macao and abroad.

🌆 About Zhuhai
Zhuhai is a coastal city in Guangdong province, sitting directly across the water from Macao and connected to Hong Kong by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, making it a key gateway of the Greater Bay Area. Known as a garden city, it is famous for its clean air, low-rise skyline, tree-lined boulevards, and long seafront promenade along Xianglu Bay. The climate is subtropical and mild for southern China, with warm, humid summers and short, gentle winters. Zhuhai combines a relaxed pace of life with a fast-growing knowledge economy, hosting several university campuses, the Hengqin cooperation zone with Macao, and companies in aerospace, electronics and biomedicine, and it holds the biennial Zhuhai Airshow, China's largest air show. Its proximity to Hong Kong and Macao and its cross-border transport links make it an increasingly popular study destination for students seeking a quieter alternative to Guangzhou or Shenzhen.
