📖 About the university

Jingzhou University is a private undergraduate institution in Jingzhou, the walled historic city on the middle Yangtze in Hubei famous from the Three Kingdoms era. It was founded in 2004 as the College of Engineering and Technology of Yangtze University, the independent college of the large provincial university headquartered in Jingzhou whose petroleum-engineering faculties serve the oil industry of the Jianghan basin; in 2021, amid the national conversion of independent colleges, it became a free-standing private institution under the name Jingzhou University. The engineering-college origin still defines the school: petroleum-related engineering tracks — a rarity among private colleges, inherited from the parent's oilfield partnerships — sit beside mechanical, civil, electrical and information-technology programmes, with economics, management and design tracks broadening the intake. The college emphasises practice-heavy training with laboratory and field-internship bases developed during its years under Yangtze University, and its graduates flow to the energy, construction and manufacturing employers of the middle-Yangtze region. As the only private undergraduate institution seated in Jingzhou, it also gives the city's own students a local option. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.
