📖 About the university

Wuxi Vocational and Technical University is a full-time public vocational-bachelor's university located in Wuxi, Jiangsu, and was established on the basis of the highly regarded Wuxi Institute of Technology. The institution's predecessor was founded in 1959 as the Wuxi Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing School, was renamed Jiangsu Wuxi Machinery Manufacturing School in 1979, and became Wuxi Institute of Technology in 1999, before the Ministry of Education approved its elevation to Wuxi Vocational and Technical University in June 2025. Its first vocational-bachelor's majors include mechanical design manufacturing and automation, numerical control technology, electrical engineering and automation, robotics technology, Internet of Things engineering technology and software engineering technology. The university is organised into around fifteen teaching units, among them the Schools of Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Automotive and Transportation Engineering, Integrated Circuits, Management, Finance, Culture and Tourism, and Design and Arts, and it co-operates with enterprises such as Schneider and Siemens to run industry colleges. With more than eleven thousand full-time students, it has long been recognised as one of China's leading engineering-focused vocational institutions and a national demonstrative college. As an applied vocational university it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
