The Shenyang Conservatory of Music traces its roots to the Lu Xun Art Academy founded in Yan'an in 1938, giving it a distinguished revolutionary heritage, and it is the leading music conservatory of northeast China. It offers performance, composition, conducting, musicology, dance and popular music, and has produced many celebrated performers and the composers of well-known Chinese songs. Based in Shenyang with a second campus in Dalian, it serves the musical life of the whole northeast. Its faculty maintain strong ties to national orchestras and music education. Shenyang Conservatory welcomes international students seeking a conservatory education in northern China.
