Huanggang Normal University is a full-time public undergraduate institution run by the Hubei provincial government, located in the historic city of Huanggang in the Wuhan metropolitan area. It traces its heritage to the Huangzhou Prefecture Normal School founded in 1905, and was upgraded to undergraduate status in 1999. The university is a leading centre for teacher education in eastern Hubei, spanning eleven disciplinary fields.
