📖 About the university

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is a public applied-degree institution founded in 2012 under the Vocational Training Council, Hong Kong's largest provider of vocational and professional education. It was created specifically to offer vocationally-oriented bachelor's degree programmes for graduates of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, bridging the gap between vocational training and university-level study. THEi operates two campuses: a main site in Chai Wan on Hong Kong Island, noted for its sustainable green design, and a second campus in Tsing Yi equipped with advanced scientific and engineering laboratories. It offers more than twenty applied-science-oriented bachelor's and postgraduate degree programmes organised across faculties covering design and architecture, digital innovation and technology, hospitality and business management, sport and recreation, construction, environment and engineering, and food and health sciences. Its curriculum deliberately balances theory with hands-on practice, industrial attachments, and real-life projects, reflecting its Vocational Training Council heritage and close industry partnerships across Hong Kong. THEi is best suited to students who want a practice-oriented, technologically focused bachelor's degree with strong links to specific professions such as construction, hospitality, sports management, or product design rather than a traditional research-university path.

🌆 About Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region on the southern coast of China and one of the world's leading financial, trading, and logistics hubs, where Cantonese Chinese culture blends seamlessly with a British-influenced international outlook. Built around one of the finest deep-water harbours in the world, the territory packs a dramatic skyline of skyscrapers against steep green mountains and outlying islands, with Victoria Harbour at its heart. Its climate is humid subtropical, bringing hot, humid summers with occasional typhoons and mild, dry winters. English and Chinese are both official languages, and the city is famous for its efficient MTR metro, double-decker trams and buses, and Hong Kong International Airport, one of the busiest in the world. Everyday life mixes Michelin-starred dining and dim sum teahouses with street markets, temples, hiking trails, and beaches, all within easy reach. For an international student, Hong Kong offers a concentration of world-ranked universities, a genuinely global environment, and easy travel across Asia, though living costs and rents are among the highest in the region.
