📖 About the university

Hebei College of Science and Technology is a private undergraduate institution with campuses in Baoding, the old provincial capital of Hebei south of Beijing, and in Tangshan on the province's industrial coast. It grew from the Baoding Huzhen school founded in 1991 — one of the best-known private vocational ventures in Hebei, which built its reputation training culinary, automotive-repair and mechanical trades — and after two decades of climbing through the vocational tiers it was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2011 as a full undergraduate institution under the present name. That artisan pedigree still shows in the college's applied character: automotive engineering and service, mechanical and electrical engineering, intelligent manufacturing and civil engineering form the backbone, with economics, management, accounting, nursing, arts and design programmes broadening the intake across its two campuses. It should not be confused with the public Hebei University of Science and Technology in Shijiazhuang, nor with the short-lived Tianjin institution of the same name that closed in 1961. The college pitches practice-first training for the manufacturing belt around Baoding and Tangshan, including the region's automotive cluster. Teaching is in Chinese and enrolment is domestic.
