📖 About the university

Saint Francis University is a private university in Tseung Kwan O, in the New Territories of Hong Kong, founded in 1985 by Caritas Hong Kong as Caritas Francis Hsu College, offering two-year foundation and diploma courses in accounting, management, and computing. Over the following decades it was successively renamed, becoming Caritas Institute of Higher Education in 2011 as it gained degree-awarding status, before the Hong Kong government approved its elevation to full university status on 9 January 2024, making it the first Catholic university in Hong Kong. Its main campus in Tseung Kwan O covers roughly 30,000 square metres across two teaching blocks, and the university has announced plans for a further Sha Tin campus focused on health-related disciplines. In the 2023/24 academic year the university enrolled about 3,437 students, of whom roughly 2,995 were undergraduates, studying across five schools that include nursing, physiotherapy, digital entertainment, business management, and accounting. As an applied-science university rooted in Catholic social teaching, it emphasises hands-on, practice-oriented education and offers bachelor's, master's, and associate degree programmes. It is best suited to students seeking practical, career-focused study in health sciences, digital media, or business within a values-based Catholic environment.

🌆 About Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region on the southern coast of China and one of the world's leading financial, trading, and logistics hubs, where Cantonese Chinese culture blends seamlessly with a British-influenced international outlook. Built around one of the finest deep-water harbours in the world, the territory packs a dramatic skyline of skyscrapers against steep green mountains and outlying islands, with Victoria Harbour at its heart. Its climate is humid subtropical, bringing hot, humid summers with occasional typhoons and mild, dry winters. English and Chinese are both official languages, and the city is famous for its efficient MTR metro, double-decker trams and buses, and Hong Kong International Airport, one of the busiest in the world. Everyday life mixes Michelin-starred dining and dim sum teahouses with street markets, temples, hiking trails, and beaches, all within easy reach. For an international student, Hong Kong offers a concentration of world-ranked universities, a genuinely global environment, and easy travel across Asia, though living costs and rents are among the highest in the region.
