Changsha Social Work College is a full-time public higher-vocational college located in Changsha, the capital of Hunan, jointly built by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Hunan provincial government. It was founded in 1984 and, in March 1999, was approved by the Ministry of Education to become a higher-vocational college, and it is directly administered by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. The college is organised into nine secondary colleges, including Civil Affairs and Social Work, Funeral Service, Medicine, Electronic Information Engineering, Software, Foreign Languages, Business, Arts, and Finance and Management, together with departments of Marxism, general education and physical education. It is nationally distinctive as one of the few Chinese institutions offering dedicated programmes in funeral service and management and in social work, reflecting its origins in civil-affairs training, and it is a national demonstrative and high-level (double-high) A-list vocational college. It enrols a large body of students and supplies specialists in social services, elderly care, rehabilitation and funeral management across the country. As an applied vocational institution it enrols primarily domestic students and does not currently advertise a dedicated Chinese-language pathway for international applicants.
