📖 About the university
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is a public research university founded in 1991 that, in barely three decades, has risen to become one of Asia's premier institutions for science, engineering, business, and technology. Its striking seaside campus at Clear Water Bay in the New Territories overlooks Port Shelter and is known for its landmark red sundial and panoramic ocean views. The university is organised into schools of Science, Engineering, Business and Management, and Humanities and Social Science, together with an Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies, and it teaches entirely in English. HKUST ranks 44th in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and is especially celebrated for its business school, whose MBA has repeatedly ranked among the world's best, as well as for engineering, computer science, and data science. It played a pioneering role in Hong Kong's technology and start-up ecosystem, and its graduates include the founders of major companies such as DJI. With a young, ambitious, and highly international academic community, HKUST is well suited to students focused on innovation, research, and careers in technology and management.

🌆 About Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region on the southern coast of China and one of the world's leading financial, trading, and logistics hubs, where Cantonese Chinese culture blends seamlessly with a British-influenced international outlook. Built around one of the finest deep-water harbours in the world, the territory packs a dramatic skyline of skyscrapers against steep green mountains and outlying islands, with Victoria Harbour at its heart. Its climate is humid subtropical, bringing hot, humid summers with occasional typhoons and mild, dry winters. English and Chinese are both official languages, and the city is famous for its efficient MTR metro, double-decker trams and buses, and Hong Kong International Airport, one of the busiest in the world. Everyday life mixes Michelin-starred dining and dim sum teahouses with street markets, temples, hiking trails, and beaches, all within easy reach. For an international student, Hong Kong offers a concentration of world-ranked universities, a genuinely global environment, and easy travel across Asia, though living costs and rents are among the highest in the region.
