📖 About the university

Yinchuan Energy Institute is a private energy-focused undergraduate university in Yinchuan, the capital of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on the upper Yellow River in northwestern China. It was founded in 1999 by a Ningxia petrochemical group as Yinchuan University, was formally established as Yinchuan Science and Technology Vocational College in 2004, and was upgraded by the Ministry of Education to a full undergraduate university under its present name in 2012, gaining bachelor's degree-granting authority in 2016. The university operates two campuses covering more than 900,000 square metres, serves nearly 15,000 full-time students, and is organised into thirteen schools offering around twenty-nine undergraduate programmes. As its name suggests, it concentrates on energy-related fields, with strengths in petroleum and chemical engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering and vehicle engineering, complemented by economics, management and information programmes. It suits students seeking practical, energy- and engineering-oriented education in the resource-rich northwest of China.
