The older central station, closer to downtown (about 12 km from the new main station). No metro yet; use buses and taxis. Traditional departure point for Southern Xinjiang trains.

Handles conventional long-distance and Southern Xinjiang trains (Korla, Kashgar, Hotan). Many Uyghur halal eateries near the station.

🔄 Getting from the station to the airport

Ürümqi Tianshan International Airport (URC, Diwopu) sits northwest of the city. Ürümqi South Railway Station is not on Metro Line 1, so take the airport shuttle bus (about ¥15) or a taxi (about ¥40-50, roughly 30-40 minutes). To use the metro, transfer to a Line 1 station first, then ride Line 1 to the airport (¥7, about 50 minutes).
