🚇 To & from the city centre
Karamay has no metro. Taxis and city buses connect the station with the oil-city centre, about 5-6 km away.
Opened in October 2011 and electrified in 2019, the station now hosts nonstop Fuxing EMU services that link Karamay with Ürümqi in about 2 hours 33 minutes. A branch line to Tacheng, near the Kazakhstan border, opened in 2019. Karamay grew up around China's first major oilfield, discovered in the 1950s.
🔄 Getting from the station to the airport
To Karamay Airport (KRY): no rail link; a taxi covers the roughly 17 km from downtown in about 20-25 minutes.
