Xisi ('West Mosque') is one of the eight teaching-ward mosques of the Bafang quarter, its congregation forming the Xisi ward. It belongs to the ring of mosques around which, from the Yuan dynasty onward, the eight wards and thirteen lanes of Bafang took shape. Its architecture follows the local pattern of Chinese classical halls enriched with Hui-Islamic decorative carving. It lies within the Bafang Shisan Xiang historic district southeast of Nanguan Grand Mosque.
