📜 About & history
Islam reached Xiangtan when Muslims settled there in 1800 (the fifth year of the Jiaqing era), building a small mosque near Jiuhui Ditch on Windmill Street. During the Daoguang era, another mosque was built at Pozhishang (today's Liberation South Road) on Lotus Street (Hehua Jie), which today also houses the Xiangtan Islamic Association. The mosque complex totals 478.47 square meters, comprising 380.56 square meters of front and rear halls and 97.91 square meters of six side rooms, dated to the early-to-mid Daoguang era (c. 1820-1840).
🕌 Prayer & visiting
The five daily prayers and weekly Friday prayer are held in the front and rear halls, serving Xiangtan's Hui community for more than two centuries.

There is no Arab quarter in Xiangtan; the mosque serves the local Hui community established since the early 19th century.

The building also houses the Xiangtan Islamic Association, making it a good point of contact for local religious affairs.
