The Shaoyang Ancient Mosque (also called the East Mosque) is the oldest mosque in the city, built in 1368 at the start of the Ming dynasty. Originally on Shangjie Street, it was later moved to Baoning Lane and repaired in the Daoguang era (1836). Its present cream-white two-storey hall was rebuilt in 1990.
