📜 About & history
Kewa Mosque was first built in 1403, in the early Ming dynasty. It is one of four early Salar mosques in Xunhua whose ancient timber architecture is protected together as the 'Salar Mosque Ancient Architecture Group', a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit. The mosque preserves traditional Chinese-Islamic wooden construction with carved brackets and a courtyard layout. It remains a functioning village mosque of the Salar community.

Reached from Xunhua county town by local car or taxi to Baizhuang Town's Kewa Village; ask for 科哇清真寺.
For heritage-minded visitors it shows how early Salar migrants from Central Asia built mosques in the Chinese timber tradition. It is a protected relic, so respect posted rules and dress modestly.
