Jiaxing Mosque was built in 1602, the 30th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming dynasty, facing east with its back to the west. Its gateway bears the inscription 'Tianfang zhichi' (Arabia is close at hand), and the complex includes a lecture hall where the imam expounds religious teachings, and a southern prayer hall built in a style with double eaves and upturned corners, along with prayer platforms and other religious facilities. The mosque today stands on Huancheng East Road in Nanhu District, and is among the oldest surviving mosques in Zhejiang Province.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
Several city buses stop along Huancheng East Road in Nanhu District.
There is no Arab quarter in Jiaxing; the Muslim community is primarily local Hui, and it is about an hour's drive from nearby Shanghai.
About 10-15 minutes by taxi from South Lake (Nanhu) in central Jiaxing.
