📜 About & history

Islam flourished in Guangyuan during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and the Yihewani (Ikhwani) Sufi movement, arriving from Yunnan Province between 1820 and 1850, later gained greater influence in the Guangyuan area of northern Sichuan. Guangyuan Mosque today stands on Shanghe Street in Lizhou District, which together has two mosques and two 'gongbei' shrine sites serving 3,797 people from 26 different ethnic groups.
