The Great Northern Mosque stands at the north end of Yongchang Street in the same Hui quarter as the Southern Mosque and is Jinan's second-largest mosque. Steles record a founding in the Ming Hongzhi era, with repairs and enlargements through the Qing Qianlong, Jiaqing, Daoguang and Guangxu reigns and the early Republic, giving it a history of more than four hundred years. Facing east across some eight mu with a building area of about 2,250 sq m, the complex is laid out in two courtyards, its axis running screen wall, main gate, second gate, great hall, moon-watching tower and rear hall. It was listed among Jinan's first-batch key protected relics and, in 2015, as a fifth-batch Shandong provincial protected site.

🚇 How to reach the mosque
At the north end of Yongchang Street, a few minutes' walk from the Great Southern Mosque; the same Hui-quarter bus stops on Jing'er Road serve both. A taxi from downtown is quick.
From Jinan Railway Station take a taxi about 10 minutes; from Jinan West high-speed station roughly 25-30 minutes by car to Yongchang Street.
In the western Hui quarter about 1.5 km from Baotu Spring; easily combined with a visit to the nearby Great Southern Mosque and halal food street.
