📜 About & history

Daweigeng is one of the oldest Hui villages of Weishan's Yongjian township, its settlement traced to a Yuan-dynasty military garrison (1257). Its large mosque, built and enlarged under the Qing, is among the biggest in the Yongjian Hui belt — the same district that produced the Panthay leader Du Wenxiu. The area is a core heartland of post-Panthay-rebellion Hui heritage in western Yunnan.

Bus

Bus/minibus from Weishan county town toward Yongjian Town (Daweigeng/Donglianhua area).

From downtown

In Yongjian Town north of Weishan county seat; about 20–30 minutes by taxi/minibus. Near the well-known heritage village of Donglianhua.

Useful tip

Strong Hui village atmosphere with halal food; combine with a visit to Donglianhua heritage village.
