Yunfu

In Guangdong province

Yunfu is a mountainous city in western Guangdong, best known nationwide as China's capital of stone: its factories cut and export marble and granite on a vast scale. It is also revered in Chan Buddhism as the birthplace of Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch, commemorated at the Guoen Temple in Xinxing. The green hills hold karst caves such as Panlong Cave and forested reserves in the Dayunwu range. Local produce includes seedless wampee fruit and Luoding fermented black beans. With a humid subtropical climate and high-speed rail on the Guangzhou–Nanning line, Yunfu pairs industry with mountain scenery and religious heritage.
