Tongxiang

In Zhejiang province

Tongxiang is a county-level city administered by Jiaxing, best known for Wuzhen, one of China's most beautiful canal water towns and the permanent host of the World Internet Conference. Threaded by stone bridges and Ming-Qing houses along quiet waterways, Wuzhen draws visitors year-round, while the surrounding countryside grows the fragrant Hangbai chrysanthemum used in tea. Tongxiang was also the hometown of the writer Mao Dun and the artist Feng Zikai. For an international student, it offers classic Jiangnan scenery, cultural heritage and a short trip to Hangzhou.
