Pu'er

In Yunnan province

Pu'er sprawls across the warm, forested hills of southern Yunnan and lends its name to China's most famous fermented tea. The Jingmai Mountain ancient tea forests, tended by Blang and Dai communities for a thousand years, were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023. The region is a mosaic of ethnic minorities and a historic node on the Tea Horse Road. The climate is warm and humid. For an international student, Pu'er offers tea culture, tropical nature, and vibrant minority traditions.
