Laibin

In Guangxi province

Laibin sits in central Guangxi on the Hongshui River, a young prefecture-level city carved out around coal mining, power generation and one of China's major sugarcane belts. Rising to its east is the Dayao Mountain of Jinxiu, a forested range that is a center of Yao ethnic culture and a growing eco-tourism draw. Nearby lie the Baiya Grand Canyon and the hot springs of Xiangzhou. The region's economy and food reflect its cane sugar and river fisheries. With a humid subtropical climate and high-speed rail on the Nanning–Guilin corridor, Laibin is a green, low-key stop in the heart of Guangxi.
