Dongyang

Dongyang is a county-level city administered by Jinhua in central Zhejiang, celebrated for two crafts: the intricate Dongyang wood carving, a UNESCO-recognised intangible heritage, and, more recently, film. Its town of Hengdian is home to Hengdian World Studios, the largest film and television production base on earth, where countless Chinese historical dramas are shot on full-scale palace and street sets. Dongyang has long sent skilled builders and carpenters across China. For an international student, it offers a lively film-tourism scene, traditional craftsmanship and an accessible inland location.
