Baise

In Guangxi province

Baise is a mountainous prefecture in western Guangxi bordering Yunnan and Vietnam, home to large Zhuang and Yao populations. It is historically significant as the site of the 1929 Baise Uprising led by Deng Xiaoping, commemorated by a major memorial. The region is a leading producer of mangoes and other subtropical fruit, and also mines aluminum ore. Scenic karst landscapes such as Tongling Grand Canyon and Chengbi Lake draw visitors. Baise serves as a trade gateway along the China-Vietnam frontier.
