A U-shaped farmhouse of mud brick and timber in Shaoshan, west of Xiangtan, where Mao Zedong was born in 1893. It is the heart of Hunan's best-known 'red tourism' site, and the Mao Zedong Memorial Museum and Shaoshan Village stand nearby.
