A roughly thousand-year-old historic tower perched on a bluff overlooking the sea northwest of Yantai, first built in 1061 during the Northern Song dynasty. It is one of the 'Four Great Ancient Towers of China' and is entwined with the Taoist legend of the 'Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea', famed for its coastal mirages and known as a 'fairyland on earth'.
