A historic temple-and-garden complex about 25 km southwest of Taiyuan at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain. Its centrepiece is the Sage Mother Hall, built during the Song dynasty (1023-1032), whose front porch is supported by eight wooden columns each coiled by a carved dragon. The hall holds about 43 Northern Song painted clay statues counted among the treasures of Chinese clay sculpture.
